Members- what's your name, what do you play, and who's the most famous person you've ever met?
Halsey here; I play bass guitar! My first ever band Mossmouth opened for Screaming Females and we met Marissa Paternoster, she invited us to go to Planet Fitness with them, it didn't work out.
Joshie Bacha here, I play guitar, sing, program the drums and play synth. This one time I was working at a coffee shop in Missoula and I put on a Dead Meadow record. This random dude turned around and was like, "Oh i helped record this album." We had a conversation and then I asked him what he did and who he was and he turned out being the drummer from Fugazi, Brendan Canty. He was in Missoula for a The Big Sky Film Festival because he made a documentary about the prison system in D.C. or something like that.
The track "Jellystone", which is available for download on bandcamp right now, is tight tight tight! Suicide vibes for sure, but also sorta In The Red Records stuff feel as well. Is there any more recorded material we can get our grubby little hands on? Or anything planned for the future?
NO THERE IS NO MORE RECORDED MATERIAL AT THIS TIME (*JULY 5, 2019 , 9:44 P.M.) We are planning on releasing an 8 song debut album and we just need to write 1 more song and finish the 2 half songs we have. It's going to be freakyyyyyyyyy.
How does the drum machine work, as far as the live show goes? Are the changes a pain in the ass to program? Is there a way around that? Do you stylistically prefer the drum machine over a human drummer?
So, little drummer boi is inside of the dwum box. He pushes the whittle buttons and doesn't ask why. We are great big phfans of his work and make sure that he has what he needs from us. There may be a way around the whittle drum man but we stay true and prefer doing it this way. It's really grown on us a lot since the beginning and it is very cool how much variety there is to the sounds that can be produced. Also, you can add way more layers too the rhythm section!!!
What's up with Ghost Carrot Recs lately? Anything coming up you're particularly excited about?
We are putting on Missoula Psych Fest (III) 2019 on July 12th and 13th and then Ghost Carrot Records Fest (IV) 2019 on October 18th and 19th in Missoula, MT before Halsey and I move to Eugene, OR in early November. Those are both pretty big events that take large chunks of my life and effectively stress me out the 4-5 months before they happen. They are both very rewarding and I always learn something new and make a bunch of new friends along the way. We have booked some freeeeeaky bands for both of these events and anyone who ever was, ever will be and ever wants to be a somebody will be at these hawt fe$teevalz!!!.
You guys played at the YAM at Dreyfest VI last year- what were your thoughts on the fest? Anything particularly Billings-y happen/any good stories?
Sure did! The fest last year was pretty cool as I remember it. So, I get pretty friggin nervous before shows and was also playing a different bass at the time which was a 1976?? Vantage bass and is nearly as tall as I am and really, REALLY heavy, but after our set was over and I was finally starting not to be as nervous when this rando guy walks up to me and starts talking to me about how he really liked my bass lines and I was like 'nice', but then he said something along the lines of "yeah, I really like when small girls play big instruments" and then asked for a picture...which I for some reason consented to. That was pretty Billingsy.
Halsey- you are from Livingston... It's a weird place, right? Downtown is super-duper cool and unique, as a tourist/visitor, but I can imagine it's kind of weird growing up there/living there every day?
Ummm, I guess? It seems a little more boutique-y and just more curated if that makes sense? Growing up there was not as shitty as it felt when I was younger, it was pretty simple, we walked around, biked around, hung out in weird places like the Post Office and this one squatter spot near the river that looked like a fort in the trees. When tourist season rolled around, it could get weird, there would be buses full of foreign people taking pictures of EVERYTHING and just seemingly confused at the wildlife/scenery. Once I heard that the most asked question at YNP was 'at what elevation do deer turn into elk', I think that was a rumor but I could still believe it.
What is Luka up to these days? Is that how you spell his name? For the folks at home, what is his story?!
Luka has a sister now!! I accidentally adopted another dog (Josh only protested a little bit) a couple months ago, her name is Rosie. They're best friends and spend their time barking and pooping in the house, they lead a pretty simple life.
If you could pick one movie to be real i.e. whatever happens/happened in the movie, actually happened in real life, what would it be? For reference, I thought a Harry Potter movie would be a good safe choice, as would Toy Story or Holes, but if you were an absolute monster, 28 Days Later or The Day After Tomorrow would be good choices.

J: Beetleborgs which is this wild Power Rangers rip off show.
Most embarrassing band t-shirt/merch you've ever owned?
J: My first Concert i attended was a Nickeback show when I was like 16 and I bought a shirt at that show.
H: I have a NeverShoutNever shirt an ex gave to me, but I'm not embarrassed. I drove to Portland and back in a 24 hour period to see him play his throwback tour. I regret nothing.
Ever broken any bones? If so, which one(s) and how?
H: Never, but for some reason I always wished I had.
J: I haven't either, I have had a handful of messed up near death experiences though. Ask me in the real world about those.
Would you rather take an all expenses paid, 2 week trip to Reykjavik, Iceland, or Bangkok, Thailand?
J: Bangkok!
H: Iceland!
