League Update

Week 15

We’re nearly there my lovely little league! Our favorite time of year. It’s almost PLAYOFF SEASON. One week remains in our regular season, and the storylines for this week are ripe! The gauntlet of the eight team playoff looms…

Master of the Seas

This is a huge accomplishment for Joshy GM! He has claimed his first ever Pacific Division title since joining the league six years ago. Congratulations on a stellar year! Josh sports the highest scoring squad in the league and absolutely decimated opponents (except for the Commish that one week) on his way to the Pacific crown and the #2 seed in the playoffs. He has relished in this year’s TE madness with a roster that has been scoring at unprecedented levels (again, except for against the Commish that one week he lost to me). It’s been since his first year in 2019 that he has tasted the championship game with a runner-up effort. This might be the year that he finally returns. With a vengeance. This might be the favorite squad to win it all this year…

Welcome to the Playoff Party!!!

Commish (7-7, 2nd Pacific)

Kyle (7-7, 3rd Mountain)

Chris (8-6, 2nd Mountain)

Austin (7-7, 3rd Pacific)

Jake (6-8, 4th Mountain)

Congrats to this bunch of derelicts for making the playoff cut! Now all that remains in the final week is to sort out the playoff seeding. And, with all the teams only a game apart, things are about to get sticky. In a fun way. *Wink, wink, nudge nudge

First of all, I’d like to put a spotlight on the turnaround that our two OG franchises, Kyle and Yours Truly, have made. Last year these two squads missed the playoffs in ugly fashion and barely combined for enough wins to make the playoffs as one entity. But, from the ashes, they hath risen! Both of these teams still have a shot to be the #3 seed in the playoffs with wins in the final week. The Commish would need a win plus losses by Kyle and Chris. Kyle has a simpler path and just needs a win plus a loss by Chris. It’s crazy to think what year can do for the mental outlook of a fantasy football owner.

Now, let’s get to the aforementioned Shitheel. Chris has the easiest path #3 seed by just needing a win this week to lock it up. This team had a rocky start to the season but has picked up 5 wins in the last 7 weeks and vaulted himself into some serious playoff run talks. Not by me. Others have talked about it I’m sure. I wouldn’t think of it.

Next, we have Krampus Man sitting stealthily below the pack. But, as always, the Krampus Magic is still in play. Somehow Austin still has a chance at the #3 seed as well with a win plus losses by Kyle and Chris. Austin owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Chris from their matchup three weeks ago. With a fucking stupid score already from Kyle Pitts on TNF (AGAINST ME) this might actually be a possibility. How was that a TD?!?!?!?!?

Finally, let’s talk about the Wizard. This team started off really hot and then hit some turbulent waters in the middle of the season. Somehow he clinched a playoff spot in the midst of a three game losing streak. Impressive. And, he still has a shot at a top 5 seed if he wins this week! I’m not sure what to think of this team at this point, but I’m officially putting his odds of making a deep playoff run at the lowest for the field. Sorry, bud. But, I will give you a small congrats for making the playoffs in each of your first two years in the league. Also, FTC.

One Spot Remains…

Laura (5-9, 4th Pacific)

Scott (4-10, 5th Mountain)

Nam (4-10, 5th Pacific)

Let’s first talk about the biggest upset of the week! Nam straight up forgot to put a second QB in his lineup because of injuries and still took down the reigning champ! THANK YOU FANTASY FOOTBALL GODS. This has knocked Scott out of a playoff spot, and on the verge of snapping his three year streak as champion. Man, that feels so good to write… But, what that has done has set up a three-way battle for the final playoff spot. I have no fucking idea how Nam is still mathematically alive, but kudos to him for that never say die Go big red attitude. Nam needs a win plus losses by Scott and Laura to make an improbable playoff appearance. Scott conversely needs a win plus losses by Nam and Laura.

The current holder of the #8 seed might be on the most improbable late season run I’ve ever seen. An opening week win by the Witch was followed by a league record 8 losses in a row! But, a post-birth surge of 4 wins in the last 5 weeks has Laura back in prime position to keep her streak of never missing the playoffs alive. All she has to do is win this week and she’s in. Simple as that. Honestly, this is a really dangerous team. Despite all the losses, she has been in the top three for scoring all year long. And, the return of Joe “Tiger King” Burrow has given this squad new visions of hope. Laura is officially my dark horse candidate for a deep playoff run and upsetting the field. And, I’m definitely not typing this just because she’s standing behind me watching every word I write… (HELP)

Record Tying Performance???

Jeremy (12-2, 1st Mountain)

I’ve already talked about Jeremy enough in these updates to satisfy multiple seasons, so I’ll keep it short. With the Mountain Division and #1 seed on lock, Wiener Dog Man’s main goal this week is to tie the record for wins in a regular season at 13. That would put him in an exclusive club with Chris, Austin, and Laura. But, can he avoid the curse of the #1 seed come playoff time?…

This last week of regular season play might be one of the most exciting and interesting ends to a season in recent memory with so many clinching and seeding scenarios still in play. Who will survive??? May the odds be ever in your favor…
